Huber Heights Lodge #777 F&AM,
under the leadership of Worshipful Master Richard L. Ganion, has taken action to
become more effective in delivering masonic benevolence and philanthropy to its
community. The objective is to ensure that the lodge steadily grows more
effective as a contributor to its community for decades ahead.
The lodge has established “The I-CARE Committee”
which is headed by Bro. Ron Clement. This committee has established a
partnership with the Masonic Senior Services ministry of the Ohio Masonic Home
to bring to bear the collective resources of the two organizations in the
following areas of service.
WM Ganion acknowledges that “the lodge will never be able to do
everything that needs done; but, one by one, we can and we should
make a difference.”
This is the year for becoming organized and seeking committed
leadership in each of the above sub-committees and refining the roles of each;
but, already, actions have been and are being taken to serve in the areas
outlined above and good results are occurring.
All members of the masonic fraternity are welcome to become involved
in these initiatives. Those whose home lodges are distant are especially
welcome to exercise their masonic principles in this local lodge. If you are
not a member of the masonic fraternity but believe you need to be involved in
these kinds of services to mankind, you have only to ask how that can be done by
contacting Gene Mandrell, Secretary at 233-9232 or @ mandrell777@ameritech.com.
The “We Care for Children Sub-Committee” is headed by Bro.
Greg Piatt. This committee facilitates the lodge’s involvement in youth
activities, fosters the use of the Masonic Student Assistance Training Program
in the schools, and, when appropriate, “adopts” children in troubled
circumstances.
Updates:
Bro. Greg Piatt is looking for a
few volunteers to assist in this sub-committee’s work.
Ads have been
taken in support of Huber Heights Youth Basketball Association and
the Wayne HS
Fall Sports Programs. The Chicken Barbeque/Ice Cream Social netted
$110 for the
Special Wish Program. This Committee could do more with your help.
The “We Care for the Disadvantaged Sub-Committee” assists in referrals to Shriner Hospitals, Scottish Rite Learning Centers, and other available sources of help and support and leads the lodge in the support of Special Olympics and other similar special programs.
Updates:
This
committee still needs a chairman and volunteers. We
supported Special
Olympics Summer Games with a record contribution this year. Think about that.
Should you be exercising your Masonic responsibilities by volunteering for this
committee?
The “We Care for our Widows Sub-Committee,”
chaired by Bro. Michael A. Cromer, maintains contact with the lodge’s widows and
widowers and provides assistance as needed.
Updates:
Bro.
Michael Cromer is looking for a few volunteers to assist in this
committee’s work, which has already begun with the assistance of Diane
Shober from the Ohio Masonic Home. Diane Shober reports that Pauline
Cantrell needs financial support until she can adjust to having had her income
cut in half upon the death of Bro. Morris. Diane has been working to help her
solve the problem in the long term but right now Pauline needs financial
assistance
to pay existing bills. If you can help her, send your check to Pauline Cantrell,
5814 Beecham Drive, Huber Heights 45424.
The “We Care for our Worthy Distressed Brethren Sub-Committee” maintains contact with those known to be distressed for health, financial, catastrophic or other reasons, evaluating their real needs and seeking sources or providing those needs, including the lodge’s support of the Wright-Patterson Airman & Family Readiness Center and Huber Heights “FISH.”
Updates:
This committee still needs a chairman to lead with this important work.
Work that has already begun in helping provide relief to one of our
Distressed
brethren who recently lost everything in an apartment fire.
The Prayer Concern list includes a number of our brethren this committee
could support if we had this committee fully operational. Think about that.
Should you be exercising your Masonic responsibilities by volunteering for this
committee?
The “We Care for the Aging in Need Sub-Committee”
chaired by Bro. Bob Brickner,
provides similar support to those in the unique circumstances associated with
the aging process.
Updates:
This committee still needs volunteers.
All the effort Bro. Bob made to find a home
for and
transport a deaf trained dog as mentioned in the last Trestleboard went for
naught when
the NJ shelter involved broke its promise and adopted the dog elsewhere.
Both Bro. Bob
and the intended local recipient were heartbroken by this incident.
Should you be
assisting Bro. Bob by joining this committee?
